By Paul Brookes
Fantastic cover, protects better than the faux leather one i bought in a hurry at the release of the note 2 (the cover never fitted properly and is now scratched already).I use my note 2 as the music player in my car via the headphone socket, since getting the otterbox I have needed to trim my rather fat 3.5mm jack but thats it.Pen is easy to remove and use. Pen is still very responsive through the otterbox shield.Has flaps over headphone and power holes, just need to lift them to use. Camera etc have holes but no covers.Buy it folks

By Alarch Gwyn
I write this shortly after receiving the Otterbox Defender case. It is quite substantial and increases the size of the phone by about 5mm in each direction, making a noticeable difference to the dimensions of the phone. The case is very robust and should survive anything a toddler might do with it, in addition to being bashed around in a bag or briefcase or dropped from a height of a few feet. This being a large phone as it is, not having to worry about the phone being bashed around in a bag was fairly important for me.Sadly, the screen cover has a very 'plasticy' feel to it and does not fit as snugly on the phone as a 'stick-on' protector might do, leaving a slight gap between the screen and the protector. I understand that this phone already has toughened glass so I wonder whether this type of screen protection was necessary, but the case needs the screen protector to fit on the device so one can't take it off without losing the protection of the case all together. That said, the pen and screen continue to function as normal, even if the pen dos not glide so smoothly.Importantly, it seems much more robust that other products on the market and is ideal for constantly carting the phone around.

By Stocky
In a highly competitive market with sometimes too much choice, monetary cost is generally a reliable indicator of quality. Otterbox is the most expensive protective case I've seen so far for the Note 2 - and with good reason.A result of my phone bundle on upgrade meant I also have Samsung's own Flip Cover (with NFC chip) and found it inadequate for my requirements. The Samsung lacks design for ease of handling and could be improved by protecting the back cover of the phone whilst having a stand. Ideally, a gel case (like a Rocketfish Flexible Case) could be made to fit around the Flip Cover rear but no one makes one yet. Samsung take note - no pun intended! The Otterbox has it all, and some...Whilst not as stylish as Samsung's Flip Cover, it protects the phone supremely whilst retaining the phone's full functionality. In addition, you get a confidence inspiring belt clip that latches over even a thick cowboy style belt and which also doubles up as an excellent landscape stand. Brilliant! There are YouTube vidoes on how the Defender is assembled that will provide a 'feel' of it.As a UK customer, this product is generally bought via the internet (yet to find in UK stores) so I rely on reviews to make a decision to buy. I have seen reviews correctly criticising the Otterbox screen, and whilst I am no admirer of the tough 'see-though' plastic cover on the Otterbox I will state the following which (if available at the time) would have helped me in removing doubt from my 'buy' decision:I already had the ZAGG screen protector (with Nano Technology) installed on my Note 2 at Carphone warehouse. It is nothing short of brilliant and without question the toughest and best protector out there to prevent screen damage. Every phone of worth should be fitted with one IMO.The ZAGG is not 100% flat if you look at it with a macro view, so the Otterbox screen on top of it would leave the screen with a visible air seal that would cause an annoying screen look. (A screen protector over another screen protector).I knew this would happen prior to buying, so I needed to know if the Otterbox screen was EASILY removable without damaging the rest of the unit. The good news is, it is! It can be pressed out (with a slight degree of care) as it is simply attached to the retaining outer face of the case by a surround of thin gummy adhesive gel - the kind that sticks credit cards to a letter. Finally it may interest those whom require a carphone cradle, that Brodit make one that fits almost any car with a clip specific to your car model and then the holder fits on the clip, either near the central air vents, or the LHS of the stereo fitting if space allows on your model (on a RHD car).I raise this because Brodit specifically manufacture two passive holders. One holds the phone without a case. The second specifically holds the phone with an OTTERBOX DEFENDER cover - it is made for it. That means I can simply move my phone from car cradle to destination venue without removing the case. A small thing, but a very good one in the business world. They do think of most things these days!
